As we say farewell to 2023 and slide into the holiday season we are reflecting on where we’ve been and where we’re headed in the new year!
Please have a look at the “End of Year Update.” We are grateful to the many donors, foundations and organizations that have allowed us to introduce new and meaningful programming in 2023.
2024 will see the launch of new cohorts, more SOS classes and workshops, and stronger partnerships with Island high schools and regional colleges and universities. Read on for highlights below.

Your Guide to Free Community College
WHERE: MVRHS Library
WHEN: Thursday, Dec 14 5:30 – 6:30 pm
Join Massachusetts Association of Community Colleges executive director Nate Mackinnon and representatives from Cape Cod and Bristol Community Colleges to learn about new funding opportunities for eligible adults, tuition equity for all Massachusetts residents, and the many exciting pathways and programs available at nearby community colleges.
This info session is for adult learners and parents/guardians of interested high school students. Dinner and live Brazilian-Portuguese interpreting will be provided. There will be a second event for high school students on 12/15 during school hours.

COHORT UPDATES
SMALL BUSINESS COHORT: Now Enrolling!
Interested in joining a committed group of students, small business owners and entrepreneurs in a 3-semester, part-time online program taught by instructors at Bristol Community College? There’s still time to apply!
The Small Business Cohort begins January 17, 2024 and is tuition-free. Cohort supports are offered in partnership with ACE MV.
ALLIED HEALTH COHORT:
Our first cohort of Allied Health students has completed an introductory course offered in partnership with MV Hospital, Island Health Care and CCAPE: 4C’s Center for Corporate and Professional Education.
These students have made valuable connections with employers and many are following up with college-level coursework this winter. If you are interested in joining the Allied Health Cohort, or are interested in learning more about our Behavioral Health cohort starting later in the spring, let us know!
LANGUAGE ACCESS COHORT:
Thanks to a generous grant from the Martha’s Vineyard Community Foundation ACE MV’s first Language Access Cohort will begin in January (Read the Vineyard Gazette article here). This cohort is designed to support bilingual English/Brazilian Portuguese Island residents towards certification and training in interpreting and translation.
If you are interested in attending a 20-hour translation and interpreting course offered later this winter, please let us know.
