Program Highlight: The Art of Medical Interpretation

The Art of Medical Interpretation course is now underway, with a cohort of bilingual students studying to develop skills that will enable them to pursue a professional future in healthcare interpretation, a much needed service here on the Island!

An Insider’s Look Into a Study Session

”During our gathering, we enjoyed cheese bread rolls and cake, and I brought my coffee machine so everyone could have fresh coffee. We introduced ourselves and practiced role plays to simulate real-life medical interpretation, which helped them improve note-taking skills. Next week, we will focus on medical terminology,” shared Program Facilitator Izadora Santos.

The Art of Medical Interpretation is an in-depth six-week class with three weekly sessions, four hours each.

”They’re working vey hard. One of the students in the class has a baby, a job, and is studying. She is a star,” added Izadora.
