Family Child Care Network

The Martha’s Vineyard Family Child Care Network (FCCN) is a FREE cohort designed to support Family Child Care Providers in their important work to nurture and educate children, ages three months through five years old, at home-based child care programs.

Through the FCCN, early child care providers access professional development, licensing support, and small business administrative resources. Members of the Network share curriculum materials, collaborate, and support each other to strengthen their individual programs. To meet the growing demand for quality home-based early child care, the FCCN also recruits and supports prospective providers to become licensed and to access capital funding to open new programs.

Family Child Care programs are home-based child care settings, which are licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC). A Family Child Care typically consists of one licensed Provider with up to six children. The home setting must be inspected to be safe, and to provide an environment with learning activities and supplies appropriate for the children, both inside and outdoors.

Benefits of joining the FCCN include:

  • Regular monthly meetings with ACE MV Cohort Facilitators, education professionals, and members of the Cohort
  • Connect with other child care small business owners
  • Access to a dedicated program facilitator/advisor
  • Professional development workshops
  • Licensing support and small business administrative resources
  • Curriculum ideas and materials

Early Childhood Education Cohort

Join our Early Childhood Education Career Explorations program!

Take the next steps in becoming a certified early childhood educator on Martha’s Vineyard with the supportive environment of a local learning cohort and a dedicated ACE MV Program Facilitator to guide you along the way. Students take courses through Cape Cod Community College virtually. Classes are available in English and Portuguese.

Learning cohorts are a team, group, or community of people with shared interests and goals who progress through an educational experience together. Their benefit is based upon certain educational theories of how people learn and the desire for support, teamwork, and shared resources. Our program uses a cohort-learning model to bring students together for professional development seminars, discussion groups, academic support, and wraparound services such as childcare, transportation, and language support.

Admissions and tuition support is available for eligible students—contact us directly to learn more about program eligibility requirements.
