ACE MV is always seeking qualified volunteers to help us further our mission. If you think you have something to help us provide Vineyard residents and workforce with learning experiences that enable them to thrive through skill building, professional development, credentialing, and life-long learning, we’d love to have you! Some of our options appear below.

Duration: Spring 2021 semester and Fall 2021 semester
Hours per week: 5-8 (remote)
Stipend: $500 per semester

1) Connect with local businesses
– create a directory of local businesses & employers
– phone calls to Island businesses to gather information
– engage them in job shadowing and high school visits

2) Prepare a Career Pathways resource:
– create a list of internship/apprenticeship opportunities
– print previously collected data and organize into 2 binders

Support our new Marine Science program by:

  • Calling interested groups such as fishermen, biologists, technicians to recruit interested teachers, students, and partners
  • Surveying Vineyard employers to gauge need for marine specialists (using Survey Monkey, emails, phone calls)
  • Surveying Vineyard residents to gauge experience in and interest in careers in marine science (using Survey Monkey, emails, phone calls)
  • Helping organize ACE MV’s marine science advisory committee
  • Help promote/market the launch of our new marine program in Fall 2021

Marketing support needed. Ideally, volunteer will have some experience in direct email marketing, social media and WordPress. Work from home.

  • WORD OF MOUTH and audience engagement specialist
  • Design ads and assist in marketing graphics and flyer creation
  • Manage social media and assist in social media marketing – send invites, request follows, and follow all island businesses and organizations
  • Update newspaper calendars and place ads in newspapers
  • Participate in our 2021 marketing drive
  • Compile ACE MV news articles and add them to website
  • Request media kits from Island newspapers, websites and magazines
  • Assist in sending bulk emails (Mailchimp)
  • Help create an ACE MV YouTube channel
  • Distribute flyers across the island

10 hours per week, remote

  • Assist with recruiting new teachers and reaching out to former teachers
  • Contact agencies to research training requirements
  • Assist with class evaluations – create forms and gather information

5-10 hours per week, remote

  • Engage past and present students to create a community among ACE participants, hosting listening sessions and/or informal events
  • Develop a needs assessment/survey for students
  • Phone calls to students to determine needs, priorities, barriers to taking classes, learning preferences, tech needs, desired trainings/classes
  • Engage in the “care and feeding” of ACE MV students, helping them make the most of their classwork

5-10 hours per week, remote

  • Update mailing list
  • Conduct online research
  • Digitize all important papers (using scanner)
  • Expand teacher database
  • Shred sensitive papers
  • Gather email addresses of high-level donors
  • Collect inventory of Island organizations (such as libraries, YMCA, etc) that provide classes, collecting contact information, calendars, dates of classes, etc.
  • Assist with database management
  • Assist with Annual Appeal mailings

  • Networking solutions
  • Manage/troubleshoot WordPress and web hosting
  • Manage/troubleshoot curriculum software
